Swing Dance at Haileybury

Amazing day of teaching swing dance in school with Charlotte Middlemiss today, with a fab performance at the school. kind of emotional, as it was great to see the young kids, who thought they would never do it, busting out some Lindy fueled with crazy Authentic Jazz and Aerials.

Here’s a video of some of the younger groups.. :-)

JiveSwing at Auto Historica

JiveSwing duo Joseph and Charlotte spent the day teaching Lindy Hop and performing alongside The Three Belles, at the Festival of the 40s Vintage Festival, part of Historica Auto 2013.

There was a fun Jiveswing icebreaker class, which attracted lots of people, followed by a performance with Joseph & Charlotte.

JiveSwing in Italy !!

What a summer!!  Joseph Sewell, Charlotte Middlemiss and Alison Marsh were invited to teach on the lovely beaches of Pescara in Italy..  Sun, Sea, Sand, Italian food and drink? It wasn’t difficult to decide.. For Alison it was the thought of Italian men.. lol..

It was our first time at Swingin’ on the Beach, where we taught workshops by day, followed by dancing to live music literally on the beach by night.. If that wasn’t enough, there was an after party each night, held at local bar on the beach, where everyone danced into the small hours of the morning..

Hundreds of friendly people crowded around the stage area, to see the performances and array of top bands.  One of the dancers captured a video of us leading the shim sham, where some of the dancers joined us on stage.

Normandie Swing Festival

Joseph Sewell and Charlotte Middlemiss had an amazing time teaching Lindy Hop and Blues, at Normandie Swing Festival, near the coast of France, this weekend. It was a great event, held in a sports village, with an array of international teachers from all over the world, also teaching Balboa, Blues and Lindy Hop.

It was very friendly, where everyone danced together and ate together.. Really nice.. Here’s our improvised social dance during the teachers cabaret. :-)

Breaking News: Flake Thief on the Loose

JiveSwing Police are today on the lookout for the Lindy Hop teacher and performer, Alison Marsh. Marsh, also known to some as ‘Sparky’, is alleged to have committed an unprovoked attack on fellow JiveSwinger, Pete Thompson.

Request for information.

Pete, known for having mean feet, had little chance of escape as he was caught unaware during a photo opportunity some 2000 metres out at sea, on Southend Pier.

The attempted theft took place at JiveSwing’s popular annual event, the Southend Lindy Exchange on 8th June at around lunchtime. It is not yet known whether Marsh was feeling peckish or simply causing a nuisance. A source, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of a reprisal attack, informed the JiveSwing Blog that Marsh has been seeking a career as a Cadbury’s Flake Girl for some time.

JiveSwing photographer Steve Merchant caught the incident on film and has made the footage available to the public.

Caught on camera by Steve Merchant.

Marsh’s current whereabouts are unknown, but she has been sighted teaching exuberantly in the Letchworth area on Monday nights.

A spokesperson for JiveSwing said, “we recommend keeping snack items indoors and advise all JiveSwingers to be vigilant until Sparky is caught.”
