Trisha

TRISHA SEWELL

Trisha Sewell is one of the UK's leading Swing dance Instructors and a partner in Jiveswing.com. Internationally recognised for her teaching ability. Her classes are well structured and organised, with an emphasis on technique and giving the students responsibility for their own learning.

Trisha is a natural rhythmical mover, having been dancing since the age of 5, where she won several competitions in Ballet, Modern Dance, Classical, Acrobatics and Tap Dancing.

More recently, her style consists primarily of Lindy hop, Rhythm Tap, Jazz Movement, Blues, 20's Charleston, Balboa, Modern Jive, Ceroc. She has taught Lindy Hop/ Blues and Charleston across the UK and in France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Turkey, Tenerife, Switzerland, Greece, Belgium and Czech Republic.

As a musician specialising in piano and wind instruments, Trisha has a deep understanding of music and musicality, which is self evident in her dancing and teaching.Her great organisation skills, have enabled her to project-manage one of the Europe's finest dance camps,
" Goodnight Sweetheart (GNSH) ". In 1998 Trisha joined Joseph to teach for the UK's largest dance organisation, but more recently she teaches Lindy hop, Blues, Charleston and Rhythm Tap across the UK and Europe. A keen student of the Jazz / Swing era and Inspired by the likes of Josephine Baker, Nicholas Brothers, Berry Brothers and Bill Bojangles , Trisha is also a talented performer, having performed with the Cotton Clubbers , the Harlem Hotshots and Chester Whitmore and alongside many top swing dance performers.

More recently, Trisha has been Choreographer for one of the UK's premier all female jazz dance performance group "The Sugar Mamas"

Formed in October 2003 by Trisha Sewell to promote performance Jazz dance in the UK. One of a few 'all female' performance groups in the UK, the group has done shows traveling around the S.E of the England. Company members and Trisha engage in a collaborative rehearsal process involving improvision and exploration of the dance. Routines include Charleston and soft shoe jazz numbers. The group took a break in 2005 due to Trisha's' very demanding teaching schedule, However 2006 will be their come back!

Our mission is simple. We want to infect as many people in the fun we have performing jazz dance. The group strives to be both professional and entertaining.
